Saturday Day 8 - Beijing, China

We visited the Forbidden City in Beijing for a few hours and didn't even have a chance to cover it all.

The Forbidden City was the Chinese palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. For almost 500 years, it served as the home of emperors.

I have never had this big of a crowd around, even though they were not taking pics of me :)

I assume that No Nearing is the literal English translation but this is FUNNY!

As we were leaving these young girls took about 20 pictures in 5 minutes of the kids. As rude as it was of me, I took one of them. It would not have been as irritating if it was not upsetting the kids. The kids can choose if they want their picture taken. Most of the time they choose no.

As I took this picture Kyle and I stood in front of them and giggled as they did at the kids, which forced them to stop. :)

This is what they will haul fresh fruit and food to restaurants in!!!

Tiananmen Square is a large city square in the center of Beijing, China named after the Tiananmen Gate (Gate of Heavenly Peace) located to its North, separating it from the Forbidden City. Tiananmen Square is the third largest city square in the world (440,000 m² - 880m by 500m or 109ace - 960 by 550 yd). It has great cultural significance as it was the site of several important events in Chinese history.

Outside China, the square is best known in recent memory as the focal point of the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, a pro-democracy movement which ended on 4 June 1989 with the declaration of martial law in Beijing by the government and the death of several hundred civilians.

Please look into more history, this is a very historical place!!

This is funny because it so reminds me of a picture my brother and I once took, I was hugging him and he just smiled!! I guess that was the only one we had like that! The rest he was crying!! :)
