Baked Tacos with Fresh Taco Seasoning

Baked Tacos

2 lbs ground beef
1 can refried beans
8 ounce tomato sauce
1 pkg taco seasoning or Homemade Taco Seasoning (see below)

1 ½ cups shredded cheese
18-20 hard taco shells
lettuce, salsa, sour cream, etc for serving.


Brown ground beef. Drain off any fat and add refried beans, tomato sauce, and seasoning. Spoon mixture into taco shells. Place filled shells into a 9×13 pan, standing up. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes or until heated through.

Homemade Taco Seasoning
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon coriander
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon or to taste salt
2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 cup tomato sauce

1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 pound ground beef

Cook the following ingredients with the ground beef; chili powder, cumin, coriander, oregano and salt. Add cornstarch, sugar,  and tomato sauce and continue cooking until meat is done and sauce is slightly thickened. Serve as a filling for tacos.
